About this Project
The Middlesbrough Sports Village project represents a landmark investment in community health, wellbeing, and sporting infrastructure in Middlesbrough. Procured through the SCAPE framework under an NEC3 Option B contract, the scheme was delivered on behalf of the Tees Valley Combined Authority as end user.

Developed on a challenging brownfield site, the project required careful planning, remediation, and coordination to transform previously underutilised land into a modern, high-performance sporting destination serving the wider Tees Valley region.
The completed development comprises a state-of-the-art indoor leisure centre incorporating gym, fitness, and community facilities, alongside a purpose-built velodrome designed to support both grassroots participation and competitive cycling. Externally, the scheme includes Football Association and Sport England approved multi-use games area (MUGA) pitches, providing high-quality, durable playing surfaces suitable for year-round use and a variety of sports disciplines.
Our scope of works encompassed the full civil engineering and infrastructure package necessary to enable and support the development. This included all associated substructures and foundations tailored to varying ground conditions, comprehensive drainage systems incorporating both surface and foul networks, and the installation of incoming services to ensure full operational functionality of the facilities. In addition, we delivered extensive hard landscaping works to enhance accessibility and aesthetics across the site, together with the construction of new adoptable and non-adoptable roads, car parking areas, and pedestrian routes to create a safe, cohesive, and accessible environment for visitors and athletes alike.
Delivered within a collaborative NEC3 contractual framework, the project demonstrates effective stakeholder engagement, programme management, and technical delivery, resulting in a high-quality sporting hub that supports community engagement, talent development, and long-term regional regeneration objectives.
