About this Project

The Minsthorpe Community College development in South Elmsall delivered significant new educational and sporting facilities designed to enhance the learning environment while minimising disruption to students and staff.

Procured under a JCT 2016 form of contract, the scheme comprised the construction of a new sports hall building alongside a three-storey temporary accommodation block, carefully phased and positioned to maintain full operational continuity of the college throughout the works. In addition, a new multi-use games area (MUGA) pitch was delivered in accordance with The FA and Sport England specifications, providing high-quality outdoor sporting provision to support both curriculum and extracurricular activities.

The scope of works encompassed the complete civil engineering and infrastructure package across the site. This included all associated foundations designed to suit ground conditions and structural requirements, comprehensive surface and foul drainage systems, and the installation of below-ground services to support the new facilities. Reinforced concrete (RC) retaining walls and RC stair structures were constructed as part of the structural and access strategy, ensuring durability and long-term performance.

The external works package incorporated both hard and soft landscaping elements to create safe, accessible, and visually cohesive surroundings, integrating the new development seamlessly into the existing campus. The project demonstrates coordinated planning, phased delivery, and robust engineering solutions to provide modern, high-quality facilities that benefit the wider school community.
